JIGS
Numerous jigs have been necessary in the
construction of the Bombe.
Many have been made by members of the team.

In the view above, in the centre are the sets
of jig parts that are used to drill and tap the fixing and lubricating holes in the main
bushes. In these bushes run the 111 main drum shafts shown on the left. On the right is a
jig kindly donated by PARSELL of Nottingham, one
of our supporting companies. This was used to punch out the special switch mounting holes
in the main switch panel

Here the same main bush and
switch jigs are shown. At the back are those used to accurately drill the four long, heavy
horizontal bars. Middle right is a drilling jig used for the large number of support
spacers fitted between the front and rear plates
More jigs will be seen on other
pages
